I have mashed the two films together as they are sequels and all the costumes where designed by the same person for both films, Anthony Powell. Outfitting perhaps the most stylish and camp villain in the Disney universe is no easy task, but boy did Powell excel at it. One of my personal favourites of any live action Disney film and something I would re-watch over and over just to be mesmerised by the most extravagant and glamourous costumes.

The films interpretation of Cruella as the fur-obsessed head of the fashion house provided Powell the perfect opportunity to dress Cruella in ways that only some of us can imagine. Pointed shoulder pads, manicured gloves, waist cinching gowns and magnificent millinery. With obvious influences of Chanel and Mugler, Cruella’s extravagant and avant grade pieces are perhaps the most memorable part of the two films. Add Glen Close’s perfect performance and you’ve got one of the best Disney live action adaptations. Powell’s excellent work as truly made Cruella De Vil become come the most stylish movie villain there ever was.
