Renee Zellweger: Winner of Actress in a Motion Picture for her role of Judy Garland in the biopic ‘Judy’, Zellweger graced the red carpet in a baby blue silk Armani gown. Though plain and simple, the crystal seems that lines the outline of the gown and enhances the slit make for an extra sparkle that completes the simple gown. I also love the rounded, strapless neckline as I feel it sits well with the cut of the dress as well as being super flattering.
Josie Comer: Nominated for her role as the very talented killer Villanelle in the hit series ‘Killing Eve’, Comer wore an emerald green Mary Katrantzou grown. Fresh off Katrantzou 2020 spring runway collection, Comer looked stunning in the duchess satin trapeze gown with twist sleeves paired with a clashing neon yellow ostrich feather clutch. Though shapeless fit, I do believe she still looked very chic in this fun and loud gown.
Isla Fisher: Walking the carpet with her nominated husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, Fisher attracted attention in a red violet Monique Lhuillier off-shoulder gown. First of all, I love the colour of the gown alongside her warm, auburn hair. I also love the puffed sleeves that sit just off her shoulders. Stood next to her husband who was wearing a head to toe cobalt blue tux, they definitely dared to be different and bold with their colour choice which I think paid off.
Glenn Close: When it comes to dressing older women for the red carpet the looks are often repeated and mediocre, however I felt that Close displayed her elegant sense of style in a navy-blue long-sleeved dress with a pleated detail by Armani. I am a sucker for anything velvet, so this look was a winner for me. The smart tailoring of the top is reminiscent of a 50’s/60’s couture style, which I think fit really well with the older woman and I hope to see more of this on the red carpet in the future.
Zoey Deutch: Deutch opted for a head turning yellow Fendi jumpsuit which instantly boosted her up on everyone’s best dressed list. Her warm yellow jumpsuit featured flowing wide-leg pants, exaggerated bishop sleeves, and an extra-dramatic deep V neckline, complimented by some very Titanic-esque jewels. My favourite part of the jumpsuit though has to be the button detailing that runs down the spine of the dress, this little touch completes the whole look for me.
Janina Gavankar: Another actress embracing the inflated sleeve trend was Janina Gavankar. Gavankar posed on the red carpet in the black evening gown, which featured lace embellishment at the bottom and electric blue billowing sleeves. I love the contrasting concepts of this gown, like how the embellished lace contrasts with the stark black of the top half of the dress and then the contrast of the black with the striking silk blue sleeves.
